Jason Martin

Hello, my name is J.M. Martin and I am 35 years old, living and working in Fairfield County.

I grew up in Bridgeport, went to Bullard Havens R.V.T.S and graduated with a diploma in Mechanical Technology. Working for several years in a family owned machine shop producing parts for power actuated fastening systems. I have also worked as a carpenter doing demolition, sheet-rocking and over 12 years as a house painter and a landscaper, and for the last 7 years working as a Public Safety Dispatcher for Fairfield University.

My father was an artist so you could say it's in my blood. I have always loved art and music in many forms. I grew up spending a lot of time emulating images and characters from comic books, many of which I still have today. On the other side my stepfather and construction gave me an appreciation for architecture which lead me to play with sculpture and clay and other mediums. My mother always had a computer around, one of my first being a Radio Shack TRS-80, reading from books on how to create games and digital art, so it was a natural progression from paper to a digital medium.

In my teenage years I drew a lot of inspiration from video games, joining mod groups, creating textures and 3D models, wallpapers and forum signatures, eventually moving to website design, learning html, css, some php, mySQL, and as you can imagine, a ton of software. I have freelanced for a few web design companies and individuals through the years.

Much of my work now delves into mixed media, I really enjoy concept art, using digital matte and photography to create fantasy like images. I have not received any formal training in what I do. It's all self taught, largely due to all the information available on the internet. I continue to learn to this day and keep improving my skill and knowledge. I hope you all enjoy my work.
